Mesa high school evacuated due to “possible suspicious device”
TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) – Mesa Police said Mesa High School was evacuated due to a “possible suspicious device.”
According to Mesa Police spokesman Richard Encinas, a 911 call referring to a possible device on campus was received around 8:30 a.m. Firefighters and police searched the campus and the school administration decided to evacuate all students.
Encinas said no suspicious devices had been found and authorities were still searching the campus. No student was injured.
Mesa High School sent a note to all parents / guardians regarding the evacuation:
Hello Mesa High community,
This morning the school received a bomb threat. Mesa police responded immediately. Students are transported to Mountain View High School while police conduct a thorough search of the campus. We will keep you posted as soon as we have more information. Do not try to come to either campus as it will compromise our security protocols.
The safety of staff and students is our top priority. We pride ourselves on our students and staff for adhering to our security protocols.
