WhatsApp users on stable iOS version receive multi-device support

WhatsApp, owned by Facebook, has reportedly started rolling out the cross-device feature on the stable iOS version of the app.

Users of the latest version 2.21.180.14 of WhatsApp for iOS, who have signed up for the beta program, will now receive a cross-device prompt in the “linked devices” section in “settings,” reports GSMArena.

With multi-device support, you don’t have to keep your phone online. To activate the multi-device beta on iOS, update to the latest version from the App Store and select the multi-device prompt. Now scan a QR code with your phone like on WhatsApp Web.

In addition, WhatsApp has also started testing a new in-app business directory feature to allow users to find local stores and services on the app in Brazil.

Currently, the feature is in the testing phase in Sao Paulo, and the company plans to expand it to users in India and Indonesia soon.

The test would include thousands of businesses in categories such as food, retail and local services in some neighborhoods in Sao Paulo.

Facebook acquired WhatsApp in 2014 in a deal worth $ 19 billion, but the platform lacked a model for monetizing its millions of daily active users.

The company is now exploring different ways to generate revenue, but hasn’t ruled out in-app ads.
